Opportunity Summary 

Serving as a teaching assistant for my Psychology 311: Educational Psychology class.

Teaching assistants for the class hold office hours, attend all classes, prepare review material, develop and run exam review sessions, respond to student emails, score exam essay responses, prepare and deliver part of a lecture, and provide feedback on student essay drafts.

Develop and deliver part of a lecture
Create multiple choice questions for exam review
Develop and lead exam review sessions
Hold one hour of office hours per week
Score student short responses on exams using an Instructor-provided rubric
Provide writing feedback to students on their essay drafts

Training:

Beginning of semester job orientation meeting
Ongoing mentorship and feedback for developing and delivering teaching material to students
Training on how to apply rubrics to score student assignments
Provision of student assignment samples to practice review and scoring

Learning Outcomes:

Design and give part of a lecture
Apply a rubric to score student assignments
Design and run review sessions for exams
Create effective multiple choice questions for an applied course

Students must have taken Psyc 311 with Dr. Sy and earned an A (minimum 89.5%) final grade.
