Internship Description:
As a Food Pantry Intern, you will gain practical experience in managing the operations of a food pantry. This role will allow you to learn about food distribution, volunteer management, and community outreach, all while making a significant difference in the lives of individuals and families in need.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inventory Management:
Track inventory levels, order supplies, receive and record donations, and ensure proper storage and rotation of food items.
- Distribution:
Assist in facilitating food distributions, ensuring a safe and efficient process while coordinating with clients and volunteers.
- Food Safety:
Learn about and maintain food safety standards, ensuring the proper storage, handling, and distribution of food.
- Volunteer Coordination:
Support the supervision, training, and engagement of volunteers, promoting a positive and efficient volunteering experience.
- Client Support:
Provide assistance to clients, answer questions, and ensure a welcoming atmosphere for all pantry users.
- Nutritious Recipe Creation:
Develop and create nutritious recipe cards for clients, utilizing the ingredients available at the pantry to promote healthy eating and cooking on a budget.
- Grocery Rescue Program:
Learn and work with our grocery rescue program to help reduce food waste by coordinating the collection and distribution of food.
- Data and Reporting:
Understand the significance of maintaining accurate records of donations, distributions, and inventory, and assist in preparing reports that analyze food work effectiveness.
- Partnerships:
Assist in identifying, cultivating, and maintaining relationships with donors, partners, and other community organizations.
- Administrative Tasks:
Participate in administrative tasks such as data entry and communication management to streamline pantry operations.

Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Social Work, Sociology, Nonprofit Management, Public Health, Nutrition, or a related field.
