Opportunity Summary 

HR/Office Management for Restaurant 

Intern will be: reviewing labor from the previous day to look for any over time/break violations/absentees and tardies, and investigate for reasoning; Maintain office inventory and place orders as needed; Follow up on Banquet and Catering inquires; Ensure employees are up to date with Food Handler, Sexual Harassment, Workplace Violence Prevention, and RBS certifications; Assemble New Hire Packets; Assist with payroll; Aid in gathering needed documents and responding to workers compensation claims

Tasks:

Review daily labor; take party and catering order inquiries; place order for office supplies; receive mail; sit in on new hire orientation

Training:

general employer orientation- will do a walk through of the building, sign liability waiver, discuss the tasks that must get done every day ; shadowing- I will have Ian overlook each task until we feel confident he can complete it on his own; weekly scheduled one on one meetings- we will go over everything he learned, discuss any confusion he has, I will give him feedback on how he is doing and any room for improvement; training literature- we have an office manual that he can study

Learning Outcome:

By the end of this internship, student should be able to determine useful details to look out for when hiring and interviewing candidates; will be able to identify appropriate labor vs sales percentages; will be able to understand the required documents needed when hiring a new employee; will not only be aware, but understand the importance of being up to par with office supplies; will have a broader understanding of workers compensation cases and steps to take to avoid them.
