Communications InternAt — Community Health Initiative of Orange County (CHI OC)
Community Health Initiative of Orange County (CHI OC) is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and fun individual who enjoys interacting with diverse people and organizations, to support the Outreach, Enrollment, Retention and Utilization program (OERU).
POSITION PURPOSE:
The internship offers the student a chance to develop job skills while assisting in a variety of programmatic work.
Tasks:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Completing the Health Access Assisters curriculum
-Develop and maintain a clear understanding of CHI OC’s OERU program goals and how his or her volunteer job helps create value for lasting relationships with stakeholders.
-Partner with HASs/HAAs in attending community outreach events.
-Assist with designing graphics, short videos, or other multimedia content for social media platforms.
-Assist in scheduling and uploading social media posts.
-Assist in monitoring social media channels for mentions of the organization, responding to comments and direct messages as needed.
-Assist in engaging with followers to maintain strong connections and boost engagement by liking, commenting, and sharing posts.
-Assist in helping draft blog posts, newsletters, and website content to support communications efforts.
-Assist in supporting the promotion of upcoming events or initiatives through social media, email marketing, or community outreach.
-Assist in researching industry trends, hashtags, competitor strategies, and news relevant to the organization’s mission and audience.
-Help with day-to-day administrative tasks for the communications team, such as organizing files, updating contact lists, and managing social media calendars.
Training:
- complete orientation process
- complete the Health Access Assisters curriculum
- shadow the Communications and Fund Development Coordinator and Health Access Assisters
- have weekly one-on-one meetings with supervisor
- overview of social media platforms and other design tools.
Learning Outcome:
- have extensive knowledge on social service programs
- manage social media platforms to increase engagement with audience
- create social media posts with clear and effective messaging
