Opportunity Summary 

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled dental assistant to join our private dental practice. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our office while providing exceptional care to our patients. This position requires a strong understanding of dental procedures, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Tasks:

The assistant will be responsible for preparing the treatment area, sterilizing instruments, and ensuring that all necessary supplies are readily available for the dentist
The assistant will be expected to adhere to all safety and health regulations, ensuring that the dental office maintains a clean and safe environment for both staff and patients
Maintain accurate patient records and update charts
The assistant will also be involved in educating patients and their families about proper dental hygiene practices and the importance of regular dental visits
Clean-up materials after dental procedures and dispose of  hazardous items in proper areas

Training:

We will be conducting an initial orientation to help start their first week. We will be meeting at the end of each week Friday/Saturday to ensure the skills she has practiced, in order to move onto the next new skill. We will address any issues or concerns she may have throughout the internship. She will have the opportunity to shadow different dental specialties such as pediatric, periodontics, and dental hygienists. I will be working side by side with her until she is ready to be transitioned to be on her own.

Learning Outcome:

Demonstrate proficiency in chairside dental assisting procedures.
Use proper infection control techniques in compliance with OSHA and CDC guidelines.
Communicate effectively with patients, dental team members, and other healthcare professionals.
Exhibit cultural sensitivity when interacting with patients.
Understand and apply legal and ethical standards in dental assisting, including patient confidentiality (HIPAA).
Successfully complete a supervised clinical experience in a dental office setting.
