Opportunity Summary 

The Homework Club is a dedicated after-school tutoring center focused on providing homework support and academic enrichment for students in grades K–12. The Homework Club offers a structured, supportive environment where students can complete homework, reinforce academic skills, and build confidence under the guidance of caring and capable tutors.

Tasks:

As a Homework Club Intern, you will:

Greet students and help them settle into the learning space
Check students' homework agendas or assignment portals to organize tasks
Assist students one-on-one or in small groups with homework across subjects like math, reading, writing, science, and social studies
Ask guiding questions to promote critical thinking rather than giving direct answers
Encourage students to develop good study habits, such as staying organized and managing time
Help facilitate enrichment activities (such as educational games, STEM projects, or creative writing) when homework is completed
Track student participation and progress using simple logs or checklists
Support the lead tutor or program coordinator in setting up and cleaning up materials
Model respectful, responsible behavior and help create a positive environment
Participate in short weekly check-ins or reflections with your supervisor
Lesson plan during the summer to teach the upcoming grade level(s)

Training:

All interns will receive orientation and ongoing training to ensure they feel confident and prepared. Training includes:

Initial Orientation – Introduction to our program, policies, and procedures
Tutoring Basics – Techniques for guiding students, checking for understanding, and supporting independent learning
Classroom Management – Tips for creating a calm and focused group environment
Communication Skills – How to effectively engage with students, staff, and families
Ongoing Support – Regular check-ins with supervisors, opportunities to ask questions, and access to mentoring and feedback
No prior tutoring experience is required—just a willingness to learn and a commitment to helping students succeed.
