Aide and Facilities InternAt — Coury & Buehler Physical Therapy - Brea
Interns will learn how to maintain a clinic, which includes:
Doing Laundry
Cleaning Tables
Dusting/cleaning clinic
Interns will learn the flow of an Outpatient Physical Therapy Environment through shadowing and helping their Lead Aide with various tasks.
Interns will learn a basic understanding of anatomy and exercises that correlate to specific cases in Physical Therapy.
Interns will learn and be tested on 200+ exercises that are universal in the profession of Physical Therapy.
Once Interns have learned/been taught these exercises, they will be able to experience 1 to 1 patient interactions, with a Lead Aide supervising them.
Towards the end of the internship, interns may be able to work with up to 1-3 Physical Therapists.
Training:
\uf0a7 All interns must complete and be proficient with each component of the ‘Curriculum Outline’ as well as our ‘Internship Overview’ within 90 hours, and/or by 2 months’ time, of their start date.
\uf0a7 Interns should have a full understanding of how the clinic operates and be proficient at teaching common Physical Therapy exercises.
\uf0a7 Each Intern should be able to work with at least 2 Physical Therapists at a time, once the internship is complete.
\uf0a7 To complete the internship within 2 months, the expectation is for interns to commit to a minimum of 15 hours/week. Interns who may need to reduce their hours below 15 hours/week may be asked to pause their internship until their schedule allows them to work the minimum number of 15 hours per week.
\uf0a7 Interns will maintain an “Internship Hours Log” to track the number of hours from start to finish.
\uf0a7 Interns who would like to work for CBPT after their internship is complete must apply by contacting Vanessa Flores in Human Resources and/or our Aide/Facilities Manager (Nathan Reyes) via email. There is no guarantee of hire once the internship is complete.
Learning Outcome:
1. Provide interns with volunteer hours required for PT/PTA/PA/OT graduate programs.
2. Provide interns with the opportunity to work in a successful private practice physical therapy organization focusing on orthopedics and sports medicine.
3. Teach interns how to clearly instruct and educate patients on physical therapy exercises.
4. Teach interns the professional communication and teaching skills needed as a future healthcare professional.
5. Develop professional contacts in the field of Physical Therapy
6. Provide interns with valuable feedback and guidance regarding patient care, professionalism, and customer service.
