Community Engagement Intern 

Time Commitment: 8–10 hours per week

About Stand Up for Kids – Orange County: 
Stand Up for Kids is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to ending the cycle of youth homelessness. The Orange County chapter has been serving vulnerable and at-risk youth ages 12–24 for over 20 years, providing mentorship, basic needs, education support, and access to housing resources. We empower young people to build brighter futures and ultimately break the cycle of youth homelessness. 

About the Role: 
This is a hands-on opportunity for a student pursuing a degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management, or Communications who is interested in learning how nonprofits raise awareness and secure support. The Fundraising & Community Engagement Intern will assist in researching potential donors, organizing outreach materials, and helping to implement one community outreach or fundraising campaign during the internship. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Use digital tools and databases to research corporate, foundation, and individual donor prospects 

  • Help organize donor data and update internal tracking spreadsheets 

  • Assist with the development of print and digital outreach materials 

  • Support the planning and rollout of at least one micro-campaign or community drop campaign 

  • Attend occasional donor or community events (optional, if schedule allows) 

Qualifications: 

  • Currently enrolled in a Marketing, PR, or Nonprofit-related major 

  • Comfortable working with spreadsheets, Canva, Google Drive 

  • Strong attention to detail and interest in data and messaging 

  • A self-starter who is open to feedback and learning 

  • Must complete a half-day training and pass a background check ($18 fee)
