Opportunity Summary 

The Engagement Skilled Volunteer will support Shatterproof’s mission to end addiction stigma and improve access to quality treatment through a variety of community engagement and program support activities. This includes assisting with peer-to-peer outreach for the Walk to End Addiction Stigma, supporting the Treatment Atlas program in California, and contributing to volunteer engagement and resource development efforts.

Tasks:

•Assist with peer-to-peer support and outreach for the Walk to End Addiction Stigma.
•Support volunteer recruitment and engagement for LA and potentially NYC events.
•Help coordinate and support the Community Resource Village.
•Collaborate with community-based organizations in California to promote and collect Patient Experience Surveys for the Treatment Atlas program.
•Assist in connecting organizations with treatment centers.
•Provide feedback on outreach and educational materials.
•Participate in general volunteer engagement and collaboration efforts.
•Support additional tasks as they arise, aligned with the intern’s skills and interests.

training:

Initial Orientation: Overview of Shatterproof’s mission, programs, and working practices.
•Weekly Check-ins: Regular virtual meetings to review progress, provide feedback, and offer mentorship.
•Ongoing Support: Ad hoc guidance and collaboration with team members as needed.
•Debriefing: End-of-internship reflection and feedback session.

Learning Outcome:

By the end of the internship, the student will be able to:
•Demonstrate effective community outreach and engagement strategies.
•Understand the structure and goals of nonprofit advocacy and public health initiatives.
•Collaborate with community-based organizations to support data collection and program implementation.
•Provide constructive feedback on outreach materials and volunteer engagement strategies.
