Opportunity Summary 

Internship to fulfill PSYC 495 class. As a TA for PSYC 305L, the student will gain great experience into teaching psychology. Interns will observe how to organize and structure a laboratory class as well as get ample experience with grading (which includes being proficient in understanding and adapting rubrics to assess student learning) and communicating with students.

Learning Outcomes  

  1. Gain experience managing a classroom by hosting review sessions with students (either through zoom or in-person)
    2. Assist with grading assignments including weekly lab assignments
    3. Provide individual student support (via email or in-person) by holding weekly office hours
    4. Support students in a cognitive psychology lab environment

Training  

  1. Provide clear and efficient grading rubrics to ease the grading process and make my expectations for class assignments understandable
    2. Offer my personal experience and guidance to help the TA navigate working with students (such as online communication)
    3. Set specific course goals and learning objectives so the TA can easily judge whether students are on track with course assignments and expectations

Tasks/Duties  

  1. Grading class assignments throughout the semester
    2. Hold in-person office hours once a week
    3. Hosting review sessions before exams
    4. Responding to emails from students
    5. Reminding students of course syllabus rules and expectations
    6. Attending class the first day and on review days (and any other days requested by instructor)
