Opportunity Summary 

Performing and assisting in the support of delivering high quality, person-centered, outcome-based adult day services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Indirectly assists, under supervision of site instructor, with the planning and selection of activities and life skills learning experiences, and achievement of individual's goals that foster self-awareness, personal growth, and independence while at the site location. 

Tasks:

1. Interview LSCs
2. Shadow several LSCs through in-person service
3. Compile data and prepare presentation
4. Present research to the group

Training:

1. Supervisor will provide opportunities to learn and interact with direct care providers and
participants
2. Supervisor will provide training on understanding appropriate approach while
supporting participants
3. Assist with data collection and analysis
4. Supervisor will provide guidance through preparation for research presentation

Learning Outcome:

1. Learn services available for people with disabilities after they graduate
high school.
2. Identify common challenges and barriers for people wishing to access
services
3. Identify successful approaches and possible solutions for people
seeking services
