Marketing Intern

Reports to: Regional Marketing & Communications Manager, The Americas

Works closely with: Marketing Coordinator

About the Role

WATG is seeking a proactive and creative Marketing Intern to support the regional marketing team. Reporting to the Regional Marketing & Communications Manager and working in tandem with the Marketing Coordinator, the intern will assist in various marketing initiatives to help build brand awareness and showcase the firm’s design work across multiple channels. This is an excellent opportunity for a student or recent graduate to gain hands-on experience in the AEC (architecture, engineering, and construction) industry and build a foundation in both strategic and creative marketing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in drafting and editing content for internal and external communications, including social media, website updates, and email marketing
  • Support the development of marketing collateral, such as project sheets, presentations, and event materials
  • Help organize and catalog digital assets including photos, videos, and project information for use in marketing and PR initiatives
  • Contribute to the coordination of events, award submissions, and campaign tracking
  • Conduct research to support media outreach, awards planning, and market positioning
  • Participate in team meetings and brainstorm sessions to support campaign planning and strategy development
  • Help ensure marketing materials adhere to brand standards and style guidelines

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field
  • Strong writing, proofreading, and communication skills
  • Interest in design, architecture, or the built environment is a plus
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and social media platforms preferred
  • Collaborative and eager to learn in a fast-paced, creative environment

Tasks:

  1. Writing captions, project summaries, or basic posts for use on social media or the internal website.
  2. Assisting in creating marketing collateral such as flyers, presentations, or project profiles.
  3. Supporting the organization and delivery of images and information to PR partners.
  4. Contributing to award submissions by gathering project details and formatting entry materials.
  5. Reviewing and proofreading marketing materials to confirm alignment with brand standards.

Training:

  • Provide regular check-ins and mentorship to review drafts and content, offering constructive feedback.
  • Share templates, brand guidelines, and previous examples of marketing materials for reference.
  • Include the intern in relevant team meetings and PR agency calls to build awareness of professional collaboration.
  • Assign the intern to assist with real-time planning for project shoots and marketing deadlines.
  • Review work collaboratively using cloud-based tools and maintain open communication for questions and support.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Draft basic marketing copy for digital platforms, social media, and website updates.
  2. Assist in the development of custom marketing materials for client outreach and internal use.
  3. Support media coordination efforts by organizing assets and responding to press requests.
  4. Help plan and track project photography and video shoots for marketing use.
