Marketing & Fundraising InternshipAt — Casa de La Familia
The Marketing & Fundraising Intern will support Casa de la Familia’s outreach and development efforts by assisting with event promotion, donor communications, and bilingual content creation. This role offers hands-on experience in nonprofit marketing, community engagement, and fundraising strategy. The intern will collaborate closely with the Marketing Director and Events Manager to help increase the organization’s visibility and impact. Ideal for students passionate about mental health, social impact, and culturally responsive communication.
Tasks:
The Marketing & Fundraising Intern will engage in a range of professional-level responsibilities that support Casa de la Familia’s community outreach and development initiatives. Tasks include:
- Drafting bilingual promotional content for email, print, and digital distribution; designing marketing materials using Canva; conducting outreach to community partners; and helping coordinate event registration and follow-up.
- The intern will also research potential donors and sponsors, maintain outreach and donor lists, and assist in drafting bilingual communications such as thank-you letters and newsletters.
- Additional duties include updating event-related website content, ensuring culturally relevant messaging, and participating in weekly mentorship meetings with senior staff.
- The intern will also have the opportunity to complete Casa de la Familia’s 40-hour Domestic Violence Training and, when possible, attend community events to support coordination and observe nonprofit operations in action.
Training:
Interns at Casa de la Familia will receive a comprehensive onboarding that includes a general orientation to the organization’s trauma-informed mission, weekly one-on-one mentorship with the Marketing Director or Events Manager, and task-specific training with contextual overviews and work samples. They will gain hands-on experience using tools like Canva, Mailchimp, and Google Workspace, and will participate in marketing and outreach activities with ongoing feedback and support. Interns may also attend community events to observe and assist with live coordination efforts. Additionally, all interns will have the opportunity to complete Casa de la Familia’s certified 40-hour Domestic Violence Training at no cost, providing foundational knowledge in trauma advocacy and community mental health.
Learning Outcomes:
- Develop and implement bilingual marketing strategies for community-centered events by drafting promotional content, coordinating outreach, and ensuring cultural relevance in communications.
- Research and support donor engagement efforts by identifying potential sponsors, maintaining outreach lists, and contributing to personalized, bilingual fundraising materials and acknowledgments.
- Apply digital tools and platforms such as Canva, Mailchimp, and Google Workspace to execute marketing campaigns, manage donor data, and prepare communications with attention to detail and professionalism.
- Collaborate effectively within a nonprofit setting, participating in weekly mentorship meetings, working cross-functionally with events and development teams, and contributing to trauma-informed, mission-aligned initiatives.
- Demonstrate foundational knowledge in trauma and advocacy by completing a state-certified 40-hour Domestic Violence Training, preparing them for future work in mental health and social service organizations.
