Functional Analyst InternAt — T-Mobile
T-Mobile is seeking a highly motivated and innovative Magenta Accelerator Functional Analyst Intern to join our dynamic Financial Planning team. This internship provides hands-on experience in Financial Planning & Analytics (FP&A), including intake management, demand and capacity planning, portfolio prioritization, and portfolio health reporting. Interns will gain valuable exposure to capital planning, forecasting, and governance while working on impactful projects that drive business outcomes.
This role is ideal for students who are passionate about data, finance, and problem-solving, and who want to learn how to create solutions that engage audiences, drive demand, and support business growth.
Tasks:
Assists platform impact assessments, timelines, capacity analysis and other intake and platform documentation.
• Understands high level scope and important deliverables for features being assessed.
- Contributes to demand and capacity planning for delivery commitments across platform.
• Helps create new training and knowledge transfer materials.
• Continuously improve knowledge of business issues and process/system risks in assigned domain, and actively share knowledge with others.
• Anticipate and champion needed communication to team, SME's, user community and partners.
• Escalate issues timely, objectively and with sensitivity to team dynamics.
• Engages team, partners and customers appropriately to ensure full collaboration, multiple viewpoints and full transparency.
• Develops collaborative working relationships with individual contributors (SME's and partners) in assigned domain
Training:
Students in this placement will receive a structured blend of formal and experiential training to facilitate learning outcomes. Training will begin with a general employer orientation to introduce company culture, values, and expectations. Interns will also participate in weekly one-on-one mentor meetings with their manager to review progress, address challenges, and reinforce learning objectives.
Throughout the placement, students will engage in job shadowing opportunities with financial planning and analytics professionals to gain real-world insights into intake management, capacity and demand planning, and portfolio prioritization. In addition, interns will attend skills training workshops focused on financial forecasting, governance, and communication strategies.
Practical learning will be reinforced through the provision of work samples and hands-on project assignments, allowing interns to apply classroom knowledge to real business challenges. Each assigned task will be accompanied by an overview and contextualization to ensure clarity of purpose and alignment with learning goals. Interns will also have access to training materials, system documentation, and literature reviews, as well as testing and feedback on their deliverables to support continuous growth.
This combination of orientation, mentorship, shadowing, and structured training ensures that students develop both the technical and professional skills necessary for success in financial planning, analytics, and cross-functional collaboration.
