Medical Assistant InternAt — Q=Dermatology

Hands on experience and interactions with patients in a clinical setting.  Students will learn about HIPPA laws, keeping medical records safe and accessible, dealing with insurance, pharmacies, referring to other specialties, setting up for procedures, assisting physician and PA's

Tasks:

• Assist in scheduling appointments to follow up the providers
• Assist patient with description of chief complaints
• Assist set up of labs and procedures
• Assist with sterilization using AutoClav

Training:

Patient will receive orientation to understand training goals, safety protocols, and proper patient interactions. Training will be provided by providers and senior employees. Reviews of procedures and progress is made weekly for improvement and improved understanding.

Learning Outcomes:

• Assist patients understand home-care instructions post surgery.
• Coordinate patient care given restrictions of insurance restrictions.
• Set up for procedures and surgeries
• Know proper sterilization methods of instruments
• Professional interactions with patients and staff given HIPPA laws
