Opportunity Summary 

Higher Ground is a non profit organization that provides mentoring programs and services to youth and families living in underserved communities. There is wide collaboration with many different partners including local academic institutions that provide interns and field study students and other social service agency partners who strengthen our impact. There is ongoing expansion in our parent and adult services as we respond to the needs of our community.

Position Summary

We are seeking passionate and motivated college interns to join our Human Trafficking Prevention Program. Interns will play a vital role in delivering prevention presentations to students (junior high and high school), assisting with outreach to schools and community organizations, and supporting program development and evaluation.

This is an excellent opportunity for students pursuing degrees in Social Work, Public Health, Criminal Justice, Education, or related fields who are interested in community engagement, youth empowerment, and advocacy work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver age-appropriate presentations on human trafficking awareness and prevention in schools and community settings

  • Assist with outreach and scheduling presentations with school personnel and local partners

  • Engage with youth in a professional and supportive manner

  • Support data collection and reporting for grant and program tracking

  • Attend trainings, staff meetings, and community outreach events as needed

  • Collaborate with mentors, staff, and program leaders to ensure trauma-informed and culturally responsive practices

Training:

  1. Train interns and provide them with in depth knowledge on human trafficking prevention and the problem of human trafficking in Orange County.
  2. Provide interns with extensive training on how to lead presentations on human trafficking prevention in local junior high schools in the Anaheim area.
  3. Train interns on methods of engagement in order to promote peer advocacy among junior high and high school students.
