  1. California college students preparing to start or return to school
  2. California high school juniors and seniors
  3. Prospective clients using in-network insurance (Aetna, Quest, and soon Cigna, Anthem, Blue Cross Blue Shield)

The intern will design engaging content, research trends, manage a content calendar, and track engagement metrics to enhance the practice’s digital presence. This role provides hands-on experience in campaign development, branding, and ethical mental health marketing.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and schedule posts for Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn
  • Develop content that aligns with campaign goals and brand voice
  • Research hashtags, trends, and awareness events relevant to target audiences
  • Maintain and update a content calendar
  • Track and report basic analytics to assess campaign performance
  • Collaborate with the supervisor for feedback and revisions

Tasks:

The intern will perform professional-level duties that directly support the creation, execution, and evaluation of targeted social media campaigns for BayRidge Effective Therapy. These duties will include:

  • Content Creation – Design visually appealing graphics, short videos/reels, and written captions in Canva that align with the practice’s brand and campaign goals.
  • Campaign Planning – Develop and maintain a content calendar that organizes posts for three focus areas:
    • California college freshmen and returning students
    • California high school juniors and seniors
    • Clients using in-network insurance (Aetna, Quest, and soon Cigna, Anthem, Blue Cross Blue Shield)

  • Research & Trend Analysis – Identify relevant hashtags, social media trends, mental health awareness days, and student-focused topics to inform post themes.
  • Platform Management – Schedule and publish posts to Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn, ensuring consistent posting and engagement.
  • Analytics Tracking – Monitor and record performance metrics (reach, engagement, click-through rates) and provide insights to guide strategy adjustments.
  • Collaboration & Feedback Implementation – Present drafts for supervisor review, incorporate feedback, and revise content accordingly.
  • Final Campaign Report – Compile a summary of campaign results, lessons learned, and recommendations for future marketing strategies.
  • These tasks will require the application of creative design skills, strategic thinking, and professional communication, ensuring the intern gains substantial pre-professional experience suitable for college credit.

Training Provided:

Students will receive a structured onboarding and ongoing mentorship to ensure they achieve the learning outcomes. Training will include:

  • Initial Orientation (Mandatory) – Overview of BayRidge Effective Therapy’s mission, brand voice, ethical guidelines for mental health marketing, HIPAA considerations, and introduction to target audiences.

  • Skills Training & Tool Familiarization – Hands-on instruction in Canva for graphic design, social media scheduling tools, and Instagram/Facebook analytics dashboards.
  • Provision of Work Samples & Brand Guidelines – Access to previous campaign examples, tone/style guides, and content templates to ensure alignment with practice standards.
  • Contextualization of Assigned Tasks – Each assignment will be paired with a brief explanation of its purpose, intended audience, and connection to overall campaign goals.
  • Ongoing Access to Supervisor – Support available via email, text, and scheduled phone or video calls for real-time guidance and troubleshooting.
