Journalism InternAt — Giving Children Hope
Opportunity Summary
We are looking for a Journalism Intern with a strong interest in non-profit work and long-form storytelling. This role is focused on writing, interviewing, research, and reporting. They will contribute to written content such as impact stories, press releases, interviews, newsletters, and reports that are distributed through internal publications or external media outlets.
Tasks:
- Conduct in-depth interviews with staff, volunteers, program participants, and partners
- Write and edit original stories that highlight the organization’s work and impact
- Assist in the production of case studies, donor reports, and newsletters
- Help draft press releases and media advisories for key events or initiatives
- Organize and maintain an internal archive of published stories and media mentions
- Attend events, workshops, or field visits (in person or virtually) to gather content
Training:
General employee orientation, training with the Marketing Coordinator, bi-weekly meetings with Advancement Manager, monthly check-ins with Director of Advancement, job shadowing.
Learning Outcome:
- Have a better understanding of a variety of journalism techniques
- Hands on experience for non-profit storytelling
- Assisting in creating written materials and videos
