Job Title:
Intern – Risk Management
Job Summary:
The Risk Management Intern will assist with administrative tasks and document tracking to support the company’s risk management efforts.
Responsibilities:
Organize and monitor contracts, insurance documents, and other risk-related materials. Help maintain logs for deadlines, contract drafts, renewals, and compliance tasks. Assist with subcontractor prequalification, coordination across company divisions, and claims tracking. Support document reviews and incident reporting. Participate in meetings or audits, as needed.
Skills:
Strong organization and time management. Accuracy in data entry and record keeping. Basic understanding of contracts or legal/business documents. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); Adobe/Bluebeam is a plus.

Dedicated, resourceful, articulate, curious, reliable, organized, and punctual.
Experience:
Upcoming bachelor’s degree in Business, Legal Studies, Construction Management, or a related field.
Position:
Reports to Risk Manager or Senior Vice President
Physical Requirements:
Desk and computer work
Lift up to 15 pounds at times
Occasional travel to projects and satellite offices
Tasks:
The student will create spreadsheets to identify the insurance costs being charged per project and to confirm if the percent charge is correct based upon the parameters the company has for such charges. They will also be reviewing construction contracts and learning different terms and conditions to assist in managing the risk of construction and transferring a risk when and where possible. They will have constant contact with other stakeholders within the company as well as those outside of the company. These may include negotiations and information gathering to assist the Risk Department in finalizing contract terms. They will also be in contact within the insurance broker and confirm certain insurance coverages that are needed to be placed to assure the company is protected.
Training:
We will have two scheduled meetings per week to go over new tasks assigned and any questions that they have while completing the tasks. Further, as questions occur, they will know to come forward immediately with their questions which we can sit and discuss and provide guidance and answers to. They will take part in conference calls and be a key listener and note taker in order to do a post-conference call recap. This will help them understand and answer any questions they may have.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to understand and apply the necessity for obtaining insurance to help mitigate potential risks on construction projects, and the benefits that this brings to the bottom line financially of the company. They will also be able to understand terms and conditions of contracts and the importance of them from the parties who are entering into a contract.
