K-6 Teacher Assistant InternAt — Ontario Christian Schools

Assist teachers in the classroom and on the playground with their students. Working with small groups or 1:1 in the presence of the teachers. Supervise the children on the playground and at lunch tables along with the teachers. 

Tasks:

Meet with the teacher to lesson plan
Help in force rules and procedures under teacher supervision
Teach and manage small groups under the supervision of the classroom teacher

Training:

General employer orientation
Weekly one-on-one mentor meetings
Observing and shadowing the teacher in the classroom

Learning Outcome:

Lesson planning for a small group in the areas of Language Arts and Math
Implement the lesson with a small group under the supervision of the teacher
Manage teaching a small group on their own with supervision of the teacher
