Opportunity Summary 

Provide applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy to clients (ages toddlers to adults) with developmental delays and Autism Spectrum Disorder. Implement behavior intervention plans, and conduct parent education sessions to assist with generalization and maintenance.

Tasks:

Provide ABA therapy to clients with developmental delays
Conduct parent education sessions
Implement behavior intervention plans to manage behaviors
Review progress with case supervisors to discuss progress of current acquisition goals

Training:

The student will have access to shadow sessions to observe other sessions across a variety of age ranges and settings. The student will also access monthly mentorship meetings with assigned clinical supervisor. The student will also attend a quarterly training to further professional development in assigned topics.

Learning outcome:

By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to utilize appropriate antecedent strategies to prevent behaviors of concern from occurring as well as using appropriate consequence strategies to manage behaviors, fluently conduct parent education sessions by promoting parent involvement during sessions and targeting parent education goals, and analyze client progress using visual analysis by identifying trend, variability, levels, etc.
