The College Student Advisor position supports students in meeting high school graduation and college entrance requirements, assists with college and financial aid applications, and conducts workshops on academic success, college readiness, and career exploration through one on one and group advising.

Learning Outcomes  

Effectively advise high school students on meeting graduation and college entrance requirements through one-on-one and group sessions.
Evaluate student progress and identify appropriate resources or interventions to address academic or career planning needs.
Guide students in completing college, scholarship, and financial aid applications with accuracy and clarity.

Training  

Offer monthly training with college, financial aid, and scholarship application platforms to build practical skills.
Conduct bi-weekly check-ins and feedback sessions to reflect on advising interactions, review progress on tasks, and set goals for growth.
Encourage independent project work to build ownership and creativity.

Tasks/Duties  

Assisting students during one-on-one and small group advising sessions under supervision, gradually moving toward independent advising.
Recording advising notes, student progress, or workshop attendance to practice documentation.
Co-developing, co-facilitating, and eventually leading workshops on topics such as academic success, college readiness, and career exploration.
