Opportunity Summary 

The behavioral technicians responsibilities consist of supporting a child in building functional skills, promoting autonomy, reducing maladaptive behaviors while increasing positive and socially significant behaviors. The intern will work closely under the supervision of a clinical team and collaborate with caregivers to ensure consistency across multiple settings. This role provides excellent opportunity for hands on experience in ABA.

Tasks:

The student will teach clients functional skills: communication skills, daily living skills, social skill, play and leisure skills, use prompting strategies, and reinforcement strategies. Student will collect data and ensure to maintain accurate date on skill acquisition and behavior reduction targets. The student will also maintain professional and ethical standards and adhere to BACB guidelines.

Training:

As part of training Behavior Technicians have weekly meetings with Behavior Consultants or BCBA’s where they are shadowed in sessions. During these overlap sessions behavior technicians receive training on accurate data collection, accurate implementation of skills and behavior reduction programs. They are also provided with feedback, coaching and modeling of programs to stregnthen clinical skills. They are also provided with opportunities to ask questions and address any concerns.

Learning Outcome:

By the end of this internship, Daniel will be able to implement ABA strategies across different settings, be able to utilize reinforcement strategies to shape behaviors, accurately collect data, have knowledge on teaching clients functional skills such as communication skills, daily living skills and social skills. Daniel will also be able to implement behavior intervention plans and utilize prompting and fading techniques to promote autonomy.
