We’re looking for an intern to support our home improvement operations with HOA and city permitting. This role is ideal for a student eager to gain hands-on administrative and professional skills while working in a fast-paced environment.
The intern will work under close supervision and mentorship from our operations staff, assisting with administrative tasks, research, and documentation while gaining hands-on exposure to real permitting workflows.
Our goal is to provide the student with a meaningful learning experience that bridges classroom concepts with real-world applications. The intern will have the chance to:
- Observe and assist staff in interpreting HOA and municipal regulations
- Learn professional communication and administrative processes in a business setting
- Contribute ideas to improve efficiency, organization, and customer experience
- Participate in guided projects that reinforce their academic studies and professional development
All core business functions will remain the responsibility of our staff, and any contributions from the intern will be educationally focused and performed under supervision.
What you’re expected to have:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Organized and detail-oriented with good time management
- Professional attitude
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a dynamic environment
- Availability to meet in-office at least twice weekly for mentorship, shadowing, and training. You may not need to be in-office regularly, but be available when requested.
- Familiarity with the following or similar software's: Microsoft Office 365 (Particularly Outlook, Teams, Excel), ChatGPT, Adobe Acrobat.
Tasks:
- Communicate with city departments, HOAs, and customers regarding permits and requirements
- Research and interpret HOA and city regulations, guidelines, and compliance standards
- Maintain accurate records and assist with document management
- Support staff with administrative tasks and customer service needs
- Practice time management and task prioritization on real projects
Training:
- HOA and city permitting processes, regulations, and compliance
- Document management and record-keeping best practices
- Professional communication (emailing, calling, and meeting with departments, HOAs, and customers)
- Time management, prioritization, and customer service skills
- Exposure to administrative operations in a business environment
