Human Resources InternAt — Care To Stay Home

Opportunity Summary 

We are a Non-Medical Homecare Company based out of the Orange County, LA County and Sacramento areas.  We provide in Home Care to those who wish to stay at home.  Our Home Care Aides work in the clients home or facility setting to assist with Activities of Daily living (oral and personal hygiene, showering, incontinence care, transferring, transportation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, etc.)

We are seeking one to two interns who can work in person at our Santa Ana location and who can help with the following items:

  • Administration - answering phones, scheduling meetings, managing email, handling mail, filing paperwork, mailing out birthday cards and ID badges, etc.
  • Payroll - assist with following up with employees, entering Paid Sick Leave, confirming the calendar and pay rates, sending payroll emails, working with the Payroll manager on other tasks as needed.
  • Staffing - scheduling, calling staff on their current schedule and availability, and other tasks as needed.
  • Talent Acquisition -  assisting the recruitment team with administrative and operational tasks, such as saving hire documents, organizing files, screening resumes, and managing candidate communication.  
  • Event Planning - plan employee appreciation lunches, plan Open House event for employees, luncheons, and other events and gatherings as needed.

This is a paid internship position and would apply to internship credits needed for school.  Office hours are Monday - Friday from 8am-5pm and seeking 1-2 people that can dedicate 10-30 hours per week each.  Hourly internship rate is $20.00/hr.

Tasks:

Employee relations/communication, recruitment, onboarding tasks, record-keeping, ensuring compliance, prepare paperwork, assist in orientations and trainings, event planning, assisting in payroll functions to ensure accurate processing, and other functions as needed. Utilizing Google Drive, Voice, Sheets, Docs and being able to proficiently type. Learning new internal systems like eRSP, Applicantstack, Paychex, Activated Insights, etc.

Training:

Students can expect to be trained with our Talent Aquisistion, Staffing, and Human Resources Departments. We have an extensive training log and system that goes over our company, industry specific items, functions and roles of each department, laws, internal processes and has some self study items. Requires a Live Scan Process through the state, TB test, and and Sexual Harassment Training. Daily and weekly meetings, sometimes department specific. Shadowing current staff members to understand processes. Being mentored by department managers and frequent check-ins.

Learning Outcome:

This internship position will allow individuals to gain practical skills in areas like talent acquisition, onboarding, staffing and payroll. This position will help in developing professional soft skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving. Interns can expect to learn about legal compliance, HR-specific administrative tasks, and how to support strategic HR initiatives, leading to a comprehensive understanding of the HR function's role in a business.
