Marketing and Content Creator InternAt — ASTEME Academy
The Marketing and Content Creator Intern will support ASTEME Academy’s outreach by producing a promotional video that highlights the school’s hands-on STEM programs, creative electives, and community culture. The intern will plan, film, and edit video content; capture photos and footage of classrooms and events; and collaborate with staff to create storyboards, interviews, and visual themes for use across the website and social media. This role requires strong video editing and storytelling skills, attention to detail, and an interest in education or youth programs.
Tasks:
The student will plan, film, and edit a short promotional video highlighting ASTEME Academy’s programs, student experiences, and community culture. They will conduct interviews with staff and students, capture classroom and event footage, and select visual and audio elements that align with the school’s branding. The intern will organize media assets, create storyboards and production schedules, and use professional editing software to produce a polished final product suitable for website and social media use. They will collaborate with the Assistant Director to review content drafts and incorporate feedback. Additional tasks include drafting captions and short promotional text for digital marketing, optimizing video formats for various platforms, and analyzing audience engagement data to inform future content strategy.
Training:
The student will begin with a general orientation to ASTEME Academy, including an overview of the school’s mission, programs, and brand identity. During the first week, the intern will receive training in safety procedures and confidentiality guidelines for filming on campus. They will participate in daily meetings with the Assistant Director and head of school to review progress, receive feedback, and refine project goals. The intern will shadow staff during classroom activities and events to understand the school’s environment and capture authentic footage. Ongoing support will include hands-on guidance in camera operation, lighting, sound recording, and editing techniques using professional software. The student will also review prior promotional materials to study visual style and tone, ensuring consistency with ASTEME’s communication standards.
Learning Outcome:
By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to create a complete promotional video from concept to final edit that effectively communicates ASTEME Academy’s mission and programs. The student will apply professional video production techniques, including filming, lighting, audio, and editing, while maintaining brand consistency. They will collaborate with staff to gather stories, interviews, and visuals that reflect the school’s community and diverse perspectives. The student will also develop a content strategy aligned with marketing goals and analyze audience engagement data to assess the effectiveness of their work.
