Industrial Organizational Psychology InternAt — Service Activation Center
The Industrial-Organizational Psychology Intern (HR & Culture Division) will apply psychological principles to real organizational processes within a fast-paced call-center environment. The intern will focus on employee motivation, performance, workplace satisfaction, retention trends, and organizational culture. This position involves conducting applied research, analyzing behavioral patterns, developing evidence-based employee programs, and assisting with organizational development initiatives. All work performed will contribute to improving employee engagement, training effectiveness, morale, and overall organizational functioning.
The internship combines research, data interpretation, program development, and hands-on application of Industrial-Organizational Psychology in a professional HR and culture setting.
Tasks:
The intern will perform the following professional-level duties:
Design, distribute, and analyze employee motivation and engagement surveys.
Collect organizational data related to performance, retention, morale, and job satisfaction.
Identify behavioral patterns using established I-O psychology theories.
Develop reinforcement-based recognition systems to increase productivity and morale.
Analyze the effectiveness of existing training and onboarding processes and propose evidence-based improvements.
Conduct research on leadership styles, communication patterns, and organizational climate.
Create reports and presentations summarizing findings, insights, and recommendations for company leadership.
Collaborate with HR and Culture staff to implement revised programs or interventions.
Assist with development of employee wellness, engagement, and culture-building initiatives.
Maintain ethical and professional standards, including confidentiality, proper documentation, and data integrity.
More than 80% of these duties are professional, research-based, and aligned with psychology-related pre-professional skills.
Training:
The student will receive structured training and supervision to ensure successful completion of learning goals, including:
Initial orientation and onboarding on company procedures, expectations, confidentiality, ethics, and organizational structure.
Weekly supervision meetings with the direct supervisor to review progress, discuss challenges, and receive mentorship.
Bi-weekly check-ins with the company's CEO for oversight, feedback, and project refinement.
Training in HR systems and tools, including data collection platforms, survey creation software, and culture-tracking processes.
Regular feedback sessions after completion of key deliverables (surveys, analyses, reports, presentations).
Ongoing mentorship to support professional development, understanding of workplace behavior, and application of psychological principles.
This training structure ensures continuous guidance, reflective learning, and professional growth.
Learning Outcome:
By the end of the internship, the student will be able to:
