FunDoRoo Physical Activity Program Leader Grad StudentAt — CSUF - College of Health and Human Development

Opportunity Summary 

As a FunDoRoo Physical Activity Program Leader, the student intern will help to deliver a games-based physical activity class at Center for Healthy Neighborhoods to children aged 6-10 years old. The program will be held on Tuesdays between 3:30 and 4:30 pm, with required availability for pre-class set up and post-class break down between 3:00-5:00 pm. Interns will also be required to participate in physical activity planning and training sessions scheduled on Tuesdays from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm at CSUF. Additionally, graduate student interns will meet once every two weeks to review games and activities and will be assisting in data collection, data entry and supervising undergraduate student volunteers in the program.

 As a program leader, interns will have the following responsibilities:
a) Guide participating children through age-appropriate physical activity following a pre-organized activity plan adapted from the program FunDoRoo
b) Adapt and Plan age-appropriate physical activity for children ages 6-10
c) Practice delivery of physical activity sessions with peers
d) Foster an inclusive participation environment for children and parents
e) Model a positive role for physical activity participation, respect for others and enthusiasm for active lifestyle.
f) Survey equipment and space needs and prepare equipment prior to physical activity sessions
g) Assist CSUF faculty with data collection and data entry related to the FunDoRoo program
h) Supervise undergraduate students assigned to complete data entry and fidelity checks in coordination with CSUF faculty

Reg Qualifications:
• Graduate student in KNES
• CPR certification
• Completion of the following courses: KNES 508
• Preferred coursework: KNES 551, 571, 348
• Enrollment in KNES 550 under Dr. Rubin 

Interest for working with special populations (pediatrics and/or underserved communities)
• Fluent in Spanish (preferred)
• Excellent team-work skills, disposition for learning, professionalism, enthusiasm for promoting physical activity in children, adaptability to challenges, interest in working with people of different cultural, educational, familial backgrounds.
