Opportunity Summary 

The Accounting Intern will support the accounting team in daily operations, including maintaining financial records, reconciling transactions, and assisting with month-end reporting and adjustments. The intern will help prepare financial statements, manage documentation that improve reporting accuracy and efficiency. This role offers hands-on experience with accounting software, exposure to GAAP principles, and valuable insight into professional accounting practices.

Tasks:

· Handling general bookkeeping tasks and maintaining accurate financial records for clients in various industries.

· Assisting with monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, credit cards, and general ledger entries.

· Preparing adjusting journal entries and supporting the month-end close process.

· Helping to prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements and reports.

· Inputting cash expenses and other financial data for tax and reporting purposes.

· Communicating regularly with clients and team members to collect information and clarify transactions.

· Assisting with accounting-related projects designed to improve accuracy, efficiency, and process documentation.

Training:

At the start of the internship, the student will take part in an orientation to get familiar with the company’s policies, accounting practices, software systems, and workplace expectations. During the first week, the student will receive hands-on training in daily accounting tasks such as data entry, reconciliation, and financial recordkeeping using accounting tools such as QuickBooks Desktop/Online and Excel. Throughout the internship, a senior accountant will provide ongoing guidance, answer questions, and help the student understand how classroom concepts apply in a real-world setting. Weekly Check-in meetings will be held to discuss progress, offer feedback, and set goals for the following week. Additionally, periodic debriefs will give the student a chance to reflect on what they’ve learned, ask questions, and build confidence in their accounting and professional skills developed.

Learning Outcome:

By the end of the internship, the student will be able to apply fundamental accounting principles in real-world situations, perform bank and account reconciliations accurately, and assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports. The student will gain hands-on experience using accounting software such as QuickBooks Desktop and Online, strengthen proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and understand the month-end close process. The student will develop professional communication skills, enhance attention to detail, and learn to work collaboratively in a team while maintaining compliance with GAAP and organizational accounting procedures.
