Opportunity Summary 

Student will assist with undergraduate course assistant duties with Dr. Chavez for her PSYC 101 online course.

Learning Outcomes  

The student will demonstrate:

  1. the ability to assist with course delivery by supporting classroom activities, facilitating discussions, and responding to student questions;
    2. will communicate effectively and professionally with students, faculty, and staff in both written and verbal formats;
    3. will accurately assist with grading, provide constructive feedback to students, and apply course rubrics consistently and ethically;
    4. reflect on their teaching-related experiences to identify strengths, challenges, and areas for professional growth.

Training  

The supervisor will:

  1. model instructional support practices and progressively assign classroom and facilitation responsibilities with structured guidance.
    2. conduct scheduled check-ins to review communication strategies, discuss challenges, and provide targeted feedback for improvement.
    3. will train the student on grading rubrics, conduct sample grading exercises, and review grading decisions to ensure consistency and fairness

Tasks/Duties  

- Assist instructor with grading of assignments, with final approval of grades resting on the instructor.
- Attend course and take notes for students on major points.
- Hold a regular office hour (1) to support students in the course.
- Assist with grading of tests, with final approval of grades resting on the instructor.
- Assist students with understanding course-related assignments.
- Be involved in 1-hour check-ins with instructor to discuss progress and teaching practices
