Opportunity Summary 

Responsible for interfacing with the CSUF Internship Coordinator, PSJMC Community services Manager, Event Coordinators/Staff, and Center Coordinators for communicating MMEH event planning, scheduling, and implementation. Assist with providing virtual indirect and direct health education: nutrition, cooking demonstrations, mental health and physical activity classes that include age appropriate cardio, strength and flexibility components. Assist completing data entry and follow up calls. Determine health education topics for community engagement events. Implement nutrition, mental health, cooking, and physical education curriculum, goal setting, and follow up calls. Track and report event and class participation. Support the Resident Leadership Academies (RLA). Support with Community Health Improvement projects. Participate in social media public health best practices training and assist in the development of content/ posts.

Tasks:

Essential Functions:

1. Attend virtual PSJMC MMEH orientation and training.

2. Assist PSJMC Community Services Manager to implement MMEH opportunities.

3. Assist with implementing nutrition, mental health, & physical activity virtual education.

4. Identify opportunities for MMEH in the cities begin served.

5. Learn and implement nutrition, mental health, and physical activity lessons.

6. Assist with conducting participant follow up calls and inputting data.

7. Report participation counts to PSJMC Community Services Manager

8. Work with Community Partners and Staff as needed.

9. Assist Community Services Manager with special projects as directed.

10. Support Resident Leadership Academies.

11. Assist with social media (e.g. Face Book, Instagram) and website postings for MMEH and PTT.

Training:

Interns will be provided explanation of Providence St Jude Medical Center's mission, vision, goals and values. Interns will learn how the Move More Eat Healthy community program and Promise to Talk activities supports the mission, values and goals of SJMC. Interns will learn about each of the nutrition, mental health, and physical activity lessons to be implemented in the community, how to sign up for internship opportunities, record their time, appropriate dress and professionalism. Interns will obtain their PSJMC ID badge and role play prior to participating in the MMEH campaign activities/events.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Intern will demonstrate understanding of Health Education lessons that include nutrition education, mindfulness, and physical activity taught during Move More Eat Healthy opportunities. 2. Intern will identify Move More Eat Healthy participant data that needs to be collected and recorded from MMEH opportunities. 3. Intern will demonstrate knowledge of follow up call procedures by completing follow up calls using phone call script and entering in data into MMEH data excel sheet. 4. Intern will demonstrate understanding of social media best practices related to public health.
