Communications and PR InternAt — Living Hope Community Church
The Living Hope Youth Ministry Internship provides hands-on experience in community engagement, event planning, and strategic communication within a nonprofit faith-based organization. The intern will assist the Youth Pastor in developing and executing communication plans, coordinating youth and parent events, and managing outreach efforts. Responsibilities include supporting weekly youth programs, creating message content, assisting with volunteer coordination, and contributing to church-wide events. The intern will also observe and participate in leadership meetings, mentorship sessions, and public speaking opportunities to strengthen communication and organizational skills.
Tasks:
The intern will perform the following professional and pre-professional duties (15–20 hrs/week):
Plan, coordinate, and promote weekly youth programs and special events (e.g., retreats, volunteer appreciation).
Develop message content and speaking materials for youth gatherings (similar to public communication campaigns).
Draft, proof, and distribute announcements and social media updates under staff supervision.
Assist with volunteer coordination and event logistics, including email communication and follow-up.
Attend and contribute to staff, ministry, and coaching meetings.
Support outreach and community service initiatives such as mission trips and food pantry events.
Observe and contribute to communication strategies for parent orientations, membership introductions, and other church-wide events.
Collaborate with other interns and staff to plan the annual Volunteer Appreciation Event (capstone project).
Training:
The intern will receive both structured and ongoing mentorship and feedback throughout the program. Training includes:
Initial Orientation: Overview of Living Hope Community Church’s mission, ministry structure, communication standards, and emergency procedures.
Weekly Supervision: Informal check-ins and coaching from the Youth Pastor to review ongoing projects and communication efforts.
Monthly Mentorship Meetings: One-on-one sessions with the Youth Pastor (Ervin Liang) for feedback, goal setting, and reflection on ministry and communication growth.
Monthly Coaching Cohort: Group learning with staff on topics including leadership, event promotion, and volunteer management.
Performance Evaluation: End-of-semester review assessing communication effectiveness, leadership, and professional development.
