Accounting Clerk InternAt — Heritage Leather Company, Inc.
Accounting clerk intern to:
- Process accounts payable & receivable
- Reconcile daily transactions in QuickBooks
- Help prepare purchase orders and track inventory costs
- Assist with month-end closing procedures
- Prepare basic financial reports and spreadsheets
- Support payroll processing
- Filing, scanning documents, and general office support
Training:
The intern will receive an initial employer orientation with regards to company policies and safety. The intern will receive one-on-one training with weekly check-in meetings to review progress, answer questions, and set learning goals. The intern will shadow during key processes (e.g., month-end close, vendor negotiations, payroll runs). They will also receive hands-on training with step-by-step instruction in QuickBooks accounting software for transaction entry, reconciliations, invoice processing, and report generation. Real-time guidance on entering vendor invoices, customer payments, and purchase orders. Training in Excel for cost tracking, variance analysis, and creating custom reports.
Learning Outcome:
By the end of the academic internship, successful interns will be able to demonstrate the following key competencies:
-Accurately process accounts payable and receivable transactions, including invoice entry, payment application, vendor reconciliation, and customer collections
-Perform bank and credit card reconciliations independently with minimal supervision
-Understand and apply basic journal entries, including month-end accruals and adjusting entries
-Confidently use QuickBooks accounting software to enter transactions, generate reports, reconcile accounts, and manage inventory/costing
