Community Coordinator InternAt — Vista Heritage Global Academies
Plans and coordinates school wide community engagement efforts, supports student attendance and family outreach, builds partnerships with community organizations, assists with enrollment and recruitment, organizes events and workshops for families, connects students and families to needed resources, and collaborates with staff to promote a positive school climate and student success.
Tasks:
Students will engage in professional level responsibilities including supporting student attendance and engagement, assisting with case management and referrals to internal and external support services, participating in family outreach and enrollment processes, coordinating community partnerships, and helping plan and facilitate school wide events and parent workshops. Students will collaborate with counselors, administrators, and teachers to support student success, observe and assist with student interventions, complete documentation related to services provided, and participate in team meetings. Additional duties include developing outreach materials, supporting recruitment efforts, conducting needs assessments with families, and contributing to a positive school climate through restorative practices and student engagement activities. These tasks allow students to apply human services theory, strengthen professional communication, and demonstrate cultural responsiveness in a real world educational setting.
Training:
Students will receive an initial site orientation covering school policies, procedures, safety protocols, and expectations. Ongoing training includes weekly one on one check ins with the site supervisor, job shadowing of school staff, and guided participation in community outreach, student support, and family engagement activities. Students will be provided with clear overviews of assigned tasks, access to relevant training materials, and opportunities to practice documentation, communication, and case coordination skills. Additional learning occurs through staff meetings, workshops, observation of student interventions, and reflective feedback to support professional growth and achievement of learning outcomes.
