Opportunity Summary 

Develops schedules and activity plans for children 6 weeks to 5 years old.  Implements activities and special events that meeto the physical, social, emotional. and cognitive needs of children and youth. Demonstrates, instructs, leads and facilitates planned and spontaneous program activities.  

Helps prepare, arrange and maintain indoor and out door activity areas and materials to accommodate daily schedules.  Secures supplies and equipment needed for activities.

Interacts with children and youth using approved child guidance and youth development techniques. Interacts professionally with employees, parents, and local installation command personnel.

Observes children and youth and documents developmental progression and or concerns.

Ensures compliance with law, policies, and regulations applicable to DOD CY programs.

Training:

Navy Youth programs has an extensive training program.
It addresses safety of children
Knowledge of how to work with young children
We use the VLS courses through Ohio state university.

Learning Outcome:

Work with children and Youth, knowing developmental stages.
Understand behaviors and what is developmental appropriate for all the ages of the children in the program.
Have a good understanding of how to communicate with parents, co-workers and management.
