SGV LGBTQ Community InternAt — The San Gabriel Valley LGBTQ Center

Opportunity Summary 

This internship will be a semester long opportunity to engage in community building, research methodology, data analysis and report writing. Interns will learn by 

  • Facilitating data discussions with community

  • Developing a vetted community resources referral network 

  • Sharing research justice with Center partners and stakeholders

  • Finalizing a literature review 

  • Supporting Center staff with in person events

  • Joining strategy sessions with Center staff

Tasks:

Facilitating data discussions with community

Training:

Provide an orientation with details of the organization and expectations
Provide a detailed workplan with a breakdown of objectives and benchmarks
Provide weekly check-ins
Provide training for tasks that need additional support
Provide monthly support meeting with other interns and volunteers

Learning Outcome:

Connect the resources available to Trans and Queer people in the San Gabriel Valley to the broader community
Understand and execute research justice tenets in their own research
Use data to create content for disbursal of information
Develop strategies for the advancement of an LGBTQ Center
