Medical AssistantAt — INFECTIOUS DISEASE CONSULTANTS
Assisting front office greeting patients, taking patients insurance information, answering phone calls, obtaining authorizations from insurance companies.
Back office consists of assisting the doctor with minor patient care such as taking the patients vital signs, wound wrapping, refilling prescriptions, writing out blood and urine orders. Also getting the medical chart ready for the next appointment.
Tasks:
Front office student will be trained to communicate with incoming patients over the phone.
back office student will prepare the rooms and learn how to take vitals
Training:
An orientation will be held on the first day on the job. Training will be done one on one consisting with shadowing at all times. Weekly meeting will be done with the student to talk about what they have learned and what they have questions on.
Learning Outcome:
By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to understand medical terminology, gain experience with medical prescriptions and their purposes, and develop skills in communication, handling pressure, and maintaining effective daily work habits
