Media Team InternAt — Orange County Artist Collective

Opportunity Summary 

The Media team intern will join one of several teams (video, photo, social media, journalism, events or graphic design) and work with the team to create promotional content, Capture events, work with upcoming artists, plan shows and create a welcoming atmosphere at all events. 

Tasks:

Over the course of the internship students will complete tasks such as but not limited to:
- Creating promotional, graphics, videos, and other content
- Capture video and photo content at live events
- Plan concerts
- Write blogs and blasts pertaining to upcoming events, releases and artists

Training:

During this placement, students will receive hands-on training and ongoing support from the OC Artist Collective team. Interns will learn by doing real projects while being guided step-by-step.
At the start of the placement, interns will take part in onboarding and role-specific training. This includes learning about OCAC’s mission, brand voice, tools, and expectations. Each intern will be shown how to complete their main tasks and use the platforms or equipment needed for their role.
Throughout the placement, interns will:
- Attend regular team meetings and check-ins
- Receive clear instructions, examples, and feedback on their work
- Learn how to plan projects, meet deadlines, and work as part of a team
- Practice professional communication and collaboration
- Gain real-world experience in creative and community-based work
Supervisors will provide guidance, answer questions, and help interns reflect on what they are learning. By the end of the placement, students will have developed practical skills, completed real projects, and gained experience they can use in future jobs, school, or creative work.

Learning outcome:

By the end of the academic internship, students will be able to
- understand how small arts organizations plan projects, communicate professionally, and support creatives.
- be able to plan, tasks, prioritize responsibilities, adapt when challenges arise, and complete projects independently.
- be able to use tools like content creation platforms, research methods, basic design, or writing skills in future jobs, school, or creative work.
- Interns will know how to collaborate, receive feedback, support others, and contribute positively to group goals.
