Opportunity Summary 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Intern will be responsible for documenting roles, responsibilities, functions and descriptions of pre-selected OLLI Board of Trustee members and Committees, as they contribute to the overall organizational governing process of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at California State University, Fullerton. 

Tasks: 

The intern will demonstrate their learning outcomes by gaining an working understanding of how volunteer organizations operate and the importance of maintaining updated and consistent records.  They will be documenting the roles, responsibilities and functions of selected OLLI Board Members and/or Committee Chairs.  They will assist in developing succession plans for the selected areas to support the sustainability and longevity of the OLLI Program.

Training: 

Intern will be assigned to an OLLI Board of Trustee Member or Committee Chair. 

They will have consistent meeting times during which the Intern will learn about the roles, responsibilities and functions of the designated OLLI member and their contributions to the overall organization. The OLLI Executive Director (Adjunct Professor at Chapman University) will lecture weekly on Intergenerational / Intercultural Communication in the Workplace, as well as Business & Professional Communication. 

Learning Outcome: 

By the end of the internship, the student will be able to gain:

  1. A working knowledge of intergenerational communication in the workplace
  2. A better understanding of how volunteer Boards and organizations operate 
  3. The importance of updated policies and procedures in an organization
