Internship Position – Movement Therapy
Healthcare Facility | Neuromuscular & Performance-Based Care
We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic intern that wants to work in a collaborative healthcare facility focused on neuromuscular conditions and performance-based care. Our collaborative team includes Doctors of Chiropractic and Exercise Physiologists, and we have recently launched an innovative Movement Therapy Program designed to bridge the gap between rehabilitation and real-life movement.
This internship is ideal for students pursuing a Kinesiology or Exercise Physiology degree, particularly those planning to pursue a career in Physical Therapy, Chiropractic or Rehabilitation.
About the Role
As an intern, you will be immersed in a fast-paced, patient-centered private practice. You will gain hands-on experience working with a diverse population, including elders, youth athletes, professional athletes, active adults, and executives. This role emphasizes learning, personal growth, and meaningful patient interaction.
What You’ll Do

Tasks:
Assist Movement Therapists and Doctors in patient treatment sessions.
Observe and document patient movement patterns, mobility, and stability.
Help design and implement basic, individualized exercise or movement programs.
Support front and back office operations, including scheduling, check-ins, and documentation.
Communicate patient progress and observations with doctors and the care team.
Shadow healthcare providers to understand assessments, treatment recommendations, and clinical reasoning.
Engage directly with patients to enhance the overall care experience, practicing professional communication.
Training:
Students will receive a structured onboarding and training experience designed to support learning and professional growth. Training will include a general employer orientation covering clinic policies, expectations, and patient interaction standards. Students will receive front and back office training, including phone communication, scheduling, patient flow, and documentation support.
Throughout the placement, students will participate in job shadowing with Movement Therapists, Chiropractors, and other providers to gain hands-on exposure to assessments, treatment planning, and patient care. Students will have weekly one-on-one meetings with the Office Manager or assigned mentor to review progress, discuss learning objectives, and receive feedback.
Additional training will include guided observation of movement assessments, instruction on basic exercise programming concepts, and contextual explanations of assigned tasks to ensure understanding. Ongoing feedback and coaching will be provided to support skill development, confidence, and professional communication.
Training & Mentorship
General orientation and onboarding
Front office training (phones, scheduling, patient flow)
Weekly meetings with the Office Manager to assess progress and learning outcomes
Shadowing Movement Therapists for hands-on exposure to treatment strategies
Shadowing Chiropractors to understand assessments and treatment recommendations
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the internship, students will be able to:
Communicate efficiently with doctors regarding patient status and progression
Create individualized training programs based on movement patterns, stability, and mobility
Assess and identify movement dysfunctions
Facilitate nervous system function through exercise and explain its importance to patients
