Opportunity Summary 

A behavior technician is responsible for implementing ABA treatment plans designed by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to teach new skills and reduce maladaptive behaviors. 

Tasks:

  • providing therapy in various settings (e.g., day care, clinic center, home)
  • help individuals build new skills to reach their goals (e.g., communication, self-help, socialization, behavior).
  • follow an individualized treatment plan to reduce challenging behavior
  • record data and document session notes daily

Training:

Student will be receiving opportunities to work 1:1 with a client at the organization throughout the week (Monday through Friday). Student will be trained and supervised on a weekly basis (a minimum of 2 hours per week). First initial training will be debriefing on client's treatment plan. All further trainings will be supervision on the implementation of the treatment plan.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to independently implement behavior treatment plans, collect data with accuracy, collaborate with the clinical supervisor on progress, assist with caregiver training, and teach new skills tailored for the individual.
