OCHS Teaching Assistant InternAt — Orange County Head Start, Inc.
The intern will gain hands on experience in early childhood education by supporting lead teachers in a structured preschool environment. The internship is designed to provide practical experience aligned with coursework in early childhood education. The intern will observe, assist and gradually participate in classroom activities while receiving feedback and ongoing mentorship.
Tasks:
Assist the lead teacher with daily routines, preparation of instructional materials, organize learning activities, implement ideas on lesson planning and develop and model professionalism at the center. These tasks will assist in building academic learning objectives and professional skill development.
Training:
The intern will meet with the center director and review progress toward learning objectives. Reflect on classroom experiences, connect to field work expectations and provide constructive feedback and mentorship
Learning Outcome:
1. Strengthen the ability to create inclusive learning environments that support children with varying abilities.
2. Develop skills in assessing and observing children's developmental milestones
3. Build professional skills in the classroom and collaborate, time manage and reflective teaching practices
