Supervise, coach, and support program staff, ensuring adherence to Club policies and expectations
Step in as site lead in the Unit Director’s absence
Ensure member safety, positive behavior management, and proper supervision at all times
Assist with scheduling, attendance tracking, and ratios
Help implement high-quality programs aligned with academic success, healthy lifestyles, and character development
Support staff training, onboarding, and ongoing professional development
Communicate professionally with families, school partners, and Club leadership
Assist with incident reporting, documentation, and follow-up
Ensure compliance with licensing, safety procedures, and emergency protocols
Model positive youth development practices and Club values
Tasks:
The Assistant Unit Director will receive training in administrative tasks including attendance, incident reporting, scheduling, and professional parent communication to ensure accurate and timely documentation. They will develop behavior leadership skills by learning de-escalation strategies, restorative practices, and safe conflict intervention techniques. Additionally, they will build leadership capacity by coaching staff, supporting smooth program operations and transitions, and modeling professional communication and a strong mentor mindset.
Training:
1. Administrative Training – Attendance, incident reports, parent communication, scheduling, and documentation accuracy. 2. Behavior De-escalation Training – Escalation cycle, reinforce–remind–redirect, restorative conversations, and safe intervention strategies. 3. Staff Coaching & Accountability – Giving effective feedback, modeling expectations, documenting conversations, and building team morale. 4. Program Operations & Safety – Transition management, restroom monitoring, supervision strategy, and proactive staff placement. 5. Professional Communication & Leadership Growth – Leading meetings, handling parent concerns, conflict resolution, and maintaining a mentor mindset.
Learning Outcome:
1. Administrative Skill Development
Goal:
By the end of the quarter, the Assistant Unit Director will independently complete key administrative tasks (attendance review, incident reports, parent communication drafts, supply tracking) with 95% accuracy and on-time submission.

2. Behavior De-escalation Leadership
Goal:
Demonstrate effective use of de-escalation strategies (calm tone, proximity, redirection, restorative conversations) in 90% of observed behavior incidents and coach at least 1 staff member per month on behavior response techniques.

They become a calm presence and behavior model for the team.

3. Staff Support & Coaching
Goal:
Conduct bi-weekly check-ins with assigned staff to provide feedback, reinforcement, and support; document coaching conversations and follow up on action steps.

Strengthens morale and builds leadership credibility.

4. Operational Oversight & Transitions
Goal:
Lead at least 3 program transitions per week (dismissal, enrichment rotations, restroom monitoring, etc.) ensuring safety, structure, and staff accountability with minimal correction needed.

Goal:
Demonstrate professional communication with families and school partners by drafting or leading at least 2 parent interactions per month and participating in one professional development training related to youth behavior or leadership.
