Preschool Observation for College Credit

Tasks:

Create lesson plans, practice conflict resolutions skills, be able to create and adapt preschool daily schedules, practice play-based learning in the classroom setting, come up with sensory table ideas, dramatic play area ideas, practice helping children enter/exit play, expand upon the children's play scenarios.

Training:

  • General Employer orientation
  • Shadowing with current staff
  • Weekly mentor meetings
  • Staff development trainings

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Build classroom management skills by observing preschool teachers in the classroom.
  2. Increase teaching skills including curriculum and lesson planning, conflict resolution skills, and preschool daily schedules
  3. Understand the importance of play-based learning in the early childhood setting
  4. Develop and implement sensory table ideas, dramatic play area ideas, how to set up a classroom and expand upon the children's play scenarios.
  5. Be familiar with Title 22 regulations and best practices in an early childcare setting
