Social Media & Marketing Intern (School-Based Position)At — Advanced Learning Academy High School

Opportunity Summary

We are seeking a creative, responsible, and motivated college student to serve as a Social Media and Marketing Intern for our school. This position provides hands-on experience in digital marketing, content creation, and school-based communications. The intern will play a key role in showcasing the daily experiences, achievements, and culture of our school community through social media and digital platforms.

Under the supervision of a faculty member, the intern will support the development and maintenance of the school’s social media presence, with a primary focus on Instagram. Responsibilities include capturing and creating content that highlights classroom instruction, student activities, extracurricular programs, school events, and special initiatives. The intern will also assist in promoting end-of-year activities, student achievements, and school-wide programs.

The intern will collaborate regularly with teachers, staff, and students to ensure content accurately reflects the school’s programs and aligns with instructional activities. In addition, the intern will contribute to maintaining and enhancing the school’s website and will support broader marketing efforts aimed at increasing community awareness and student enrollment.

This role requires a high level of professionalism, creativity, and initiative. The intern will be expected to independently manage their time during the school day, proactively seek out content opportunities by reviewing staff calendars and communicating with teachers, and maintain a consistent posting schedule. Weekly meetings with the supervisor will provide guidance, feedback, and support.

This internship is ideal for students interested in careers in marketing, communications, education, or digital media and offers valuable real-world experience in a collaborative school environment.

Training:

To support the intern in achieving the proposed learning outcomes, a structured combination of orientation, hands-on training, and ongoing supervision will be implemented.
At the start of the internship, the intern will participate in an initial orientation to review expectations, school policies, appropriate use of media in a school setting, and an overview of current social media platforms and goals. During the first week, the intern will engage in job shadowing, observing the supervisor’s processes for content planning, capturing media, and creating and publishing posts. This will provide a clear model of expectations and workflow.

Following the initial training period, the intern will transition to a more independent role in which they will be responsible for gathering content, developing posts, and contributing to the school’s digital presence. The supervisor will provide ongoing guidance and feedback throughout this process.

The intern and supervisor will meet on a weekly basis to establish goals, assign projects, review completed work, and evaluate progress toward learning outcomes. These meetings will also serve as an opportunity for mentorship, skill development, and reflection.

In addition to scheduled meetings, the supervisor will be available on campus during the school day to provide support, answer questions, and offer real-time feedback as needed. The intern will also have opportunities to collaborate with faculty, students, and district personnel on specific projects, further enhancing their practical experience.

This structured approach ensures the intern receives both guided instruction and independent practice while maintaining consistent support and professional mentorship.

Learning Outcome:

By the end of the internship, the student will be able to:
Demonstrate the ability to develop, implement, and maintain a consistent and professional social media presence for an educational institution
Design and produce high-quality digital content, including photography, video, and graphic materials, aligned with organizational goals
