Opportunity Summary 

Performs complete administrative functions for attorneys and paralegals requiring the highest level of knowledge of legal format, court rules and procedures, and specialized terminology.  Has client contact requiring discretion and judgment.  Obtains and maintains a working knowledge of attorneys’ area of practice and has familiarity with e-filing and e-service procedures through training.  Has high degree of knowledge of all legal software and prepares legal documents with training.  May enter time records for attorneys in a timely manner into Time Reporting System. Maintains complex and large volume of case electronic  filing.  Manages calendaring via Abacus and Microsoft Outlook for office. Manages Weekly Calendar Meeting

Tasks:

Assignments include, but are not limited to, organizing electronic documents in chronological order, numbering, stamping, etc. of documents, indexing of documents on case specific drive, summarizing of deposition transcripts, preparing documents for exhibits and witness packets for depositions and trials, as well as Business Development mailing support.

Training:

Answers, screens, directs and places telephone calls and reviews receptionist calls received in voicemail. Able to organize and prioritize projects to meet attorney deadlines. Has excellent interpersonal skills in communicating with all office personnel, clients, and experts. Must be a team player in the office. May assume responsibility for special projects including Accounting-related tasks such as analyzing case data, entering invoices, organizing, and filing documents. Ability to work from 8:30am – 5:30pm plus possible overtime as needed.

Learning Outcome:

Gain a well-rounded background of working in a law firm during an internship. Concentrate on administrative and legal support to attorneys and paralegals in the fulfilment of their responsibilities within the law firm.
