Canvasser - Part-time - $26/hr

The Eunisses Hernandez reelection campaign is looking for a team of part-time Canvassers who will knock doors in an effort to reach constituents before election day on June 2nd. The expectation will be 20 hours worked a week, with the majority of that time being pure door-knocking. ~16 of these hours are expected to be worked on weekends, when we do the majority of our outreach. 

Job Duties and Requirements:

- Canvassing door-to-door—having conversations with voters on the city, the campaign, Eunisses, and the issues that matter to them.

- Tracking these conversations via voter outreach tools.

- Ability to comfortably walk up to 5 miles for multiple hours per day.

- Ability to comfortably lift and/or carry up to 10 pounds, such as stacks or boxes of printed campaign literature.

The Canvasser position will work 20 hours per week, including the expectation to work on weekends.

The ideal candidate is:

- Engaged in Los Angeles local politics, with some knowledge of the ins and outs of issues such as homelessness, housing, transit and alternatives to policing.

- Comfortable having conversations with strangers

- Knowledgeable of the neighborhoods of Glassell Park, Lincoln Heights, Mount Washington, Cypress Park, Westlake, Harvard Heights, Chinatown, and Pico-Union.

- Able to manage their time well

- Conversational fluency in multiple languages is a plus

- Personal experience with the district or current residency in CD1 is also a plus

Training: 

-Initial 2 hour training to cover software applications, basics of civics education, filling in timesheets, etc.
-Weekly scheduled team meetings to discuss successes and struggled
-Texting group chats for on demand questions

Learning Outcomes:

-Have friendly and persuasive conversations with voters
-Know to use new software applications like Airtable and PDI
-Expand their network of individuals invested in public service
