As a Mental Health & Eating Disorder Technician at We Conquer Together, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, supportive, and recovery-focused environment for our residents. You’ll work directly with clients to provide compassionate care, promote healthy daily routines, and assist the clinical team in implementing individualized treatment plans.
This position is ideal for individuals with experience in healthcare or behavioral health settings; such as inpatient, residential, or partial hospitalization programs, who have an interest or background in Eating Disorder Recovery. Familiarity with the All Foods Fit philosophy and the Health at Every Size (HAES®) framework is strongly valued, as these principles guide our compassionate, evidence-based approach to care.
Tasks:
- Provide continuous supervision and therapeutic support to clients within the residential facility, ensuring safety and engagement in daily programming.
- Foster a safe, compassionate, and recovery-oriented environment conducive to emotional and physical healing.
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including at table meal support, self-care routines, and encouraging healthy coping behaviors.
- Assist in meal preparation and plating in accordance with the Registered Dietitian’s meal plan and menu guidelines, ensuring compliance with each client’s individualized nutritional plan and facility protocols.
- Monitor, observe, and document clients’ behaviors, mood, participation, progress, and vital signs as directed by nursing or clinical staff.
- Support medication protocols by observing and documenting clients’ self-administration of prescribed medications in accordance with facility policy.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary treatment team to reinforce individualized treatment goals and behavioral objectives.
- Assist in crisis intervention and de-escalation, following established safety and emergency response procedures.
- Conduct observational rounds and safety checks in alignment with program schedules and care team directives.
- Conduct waived testing (e.g., urine drug screens) in compliance with policy and maintain accurate documentation.
- Participate actively in staff meetings, supervision, and ongoing trainings to enhance knowledge of mental health, eating disorders, and trauma-informed care.
- Demonstrate adherence to Joint Commission standards and facility policies regarding Infection Prevention and Control, Environment of Care, and Emergency Management.
- Provide transportation for residents to and from admissions, discharges, appointments, outings, support groups, or approved recovery activities, ensuring safety and professionalism.
- Assist with resident intake and orientation, ensuring a supportive and organized transition into the program.
- Help maintain a clean, orderly, and therapeutic facility environment.
- Facilitate supportive or skills-based group sessions or outings aligned with your training and as assigned by the Clinical Director, fostering engagement and recovery while ensuring thorough documentation of group process and participation.
Training:
- Initial Orientation: Comprehensive onboarding covering working practices, emergency procedures, safety protocols, documentation standards, and HIPAA compliance. Orientation includes facility tour, introduction to staff roles, and review of policies and procedures.
- Weekly Individual Supervision (60 minutes): One-on-one case review with the assigned supervisor to discuss client presentations, DSM-5-TR diagnostic considerations, treatment planning, and progress toward learning outcomes. This will include reflective discussion on cultural context, identity, and systemic influences.
- Group Supervision (Biweekly): Collaborative team meetings to discuss challenging cases, share observations, and provide peer mentorship. Focus on developing clinical reasoning, culturally competent interventions, and trauma-informed strategies.
- Real-Time Feedback: On-the-spot guidance during sessions, including feedback on interventions, therapeutic language, client engagement, and professional demeanor.
- Case Conceptualization Practice: Role-playing and mock case presentations at least monthly to reinforce assessment skills, conceptualization, treatment planning, and collaborative communication. Supervisor provides corrective feedback and strategies to improve clinical reasoning.
- Reflective Supervision: Ongoing opportunities to explore personal reactions, biases, and countertransference in the context of client care, including discussion of culture, trauma, grief, and systemic factors impacting treatment.
- Documentation Feedback: Review of GIRP notes, progress notes, and treatment plans on a weekly basis to ensure clarity, clinical accuracy, and adherence to documentation standards. Feedback includes concrete examples of improving clinical phrasing and reasoning.
- Skill Modeling: Supervisor demonstrates interventions, techniques, and client engagement strategies in real-time or through recorded sessions, followed by discussion and practice by the student.
- Debriefing: Immediate debrief after high-acuity or complex cases to review interventions, reflect on outcomes, and reinforce best practices.
- Goal-Oriented Check-Ins: Weekly or biweekly sessions to review learning goals, progress toward competencies, and adjustments to training plans based on strengths and areas for growth.
- Cultural Competency Mentorship: Regular discussions focusing on how cultural background, identity, and lived experience influence clinical presentation and treatment planning.
Learning Outcomes:

- The supervisee will enhance their ability to formulate cases, develop hypotheses, and navigate differential diagnosis. Supervision will include case conceptualization discussions with a focus on cultural context and integration of DSM-5-TR criteria
- The supervisee will learn cultural humility and with client diversity. Reflective supervision will be used to explore culture, identity, and systemic influences.
- The supervisee would like to deepen their work with trauma and grief. Through supervision, we will review trauma-informed strategies and discuss culturally sensitive grief practices.
- The supervisee will strengthen their consultation skills and learn to communicate more concisely with other professionals. We will use supervision to role-play case presentations and review examples of collaborative communication.
- The supervisee will increase their ability to assess where clients are in the change process and adjust treatment accordingly. Supervision will include identifying stages during case review and discussing relevant strategies.
