Opportunity Summary 

Seeking a motivated and music-driven intern to support the Publishing A&R team with songwriter research, session coordination, song tracking, and creative administration. Responsibilities include identifying emerging talent, maintaining writer/song databases, organizing playlists and demos, and assisting with day-to-day creative operations.

Ideal candidates are highly organized, detail-oriented, passionate about music discovery and songwriting, and familiar with current industry trends and digital platforms. Proficiency in Google Workspace and Excel preferred.

Tasks:

- Creative research (finding new talent)
- Admin help (keeping up with writer spreadsheets, radio charts, etc.)
- Playlist making within DISCO
- Collecting assets for songs

Training:

Weekly 1 on 1's with supervisor and working closely with the team.

To help the student achieve their learning outcomes, I will provide ongoing mentorship, direct instruction, and hands-on learning opportunities throughout the internship experience. The student and I will meet one-on-one weekly to review current projects, discuss progress, answer questions, and identify areas for growth. In addition to these scheduled meetings, I will provide day-to-day guidance and real-time feedback as assignments are completed.

The student will receive training through a combination of observational learning, shadowing opportunities, and active participation in A&R processes. This may include observing songwriter and artist meetings, tracking releases and chart activity, organizing creative assets, researching writers and producers, and assisting with catalog and pitch-related projects. I will provide direct instruction on industry tools, workflows, communication standards, and organizational practices relevant to publishing A&R.

Feedback and evaluation will be ongoing throughout the internship, with constructive feedback provided regularly to help strengthen the student’s professional communication, attention to detail, research skills, and understanding of the music publishing landscape. The student will also be encouraged to ask questions, contribute ideas, and gradually take on additional responsibilities as their knowledge and confidence grow.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to identify and research emerging songwriters, producers, and artists within the music industry.
By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to maintain organized creative materials, playlists, and internal databases in a professional publishing environment.
By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to support the coordination and organization of writing sessions and creative meetings.
By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to analyze music trends, charts, and digital platforms to support A&R strategy and creative development.
By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to communicate and collaborate effectively within a fast-paced music publishing team.
