The Community Schools Coordinator serves as the lead facilitator for the implementation and sustainability of the Community Schools model. This position is responsible for building strong partnerships among students, families, school staff, community organizations, and local agencies to support the academic, social-emotional, health, and enrichment needs of students.

The Coordinator develops systems and programs that align community resources with school goals, increases family and community engagement, and helps create equitable access to services and opportunities for all students.

Tasks:

Assist in coordinating Community Schools initiatives and integrated student support services in collaboration with school staff and community partners.
Conduct needs assessments, asset mapping, and data collection activities to identify student, family, and community support needs.
Support the development and implementation of family engagement activities, workshops, outreach events, and community partnership programs.
Participate in meetings with administrators, counselors, teachers, nonprofit organizations, and external agencies to support collaborative planning and service coordination.
Research and identify community resources, grant opportunities, and partnership strategies that align with school and district goals.
Assist in developing presentations, reports, outreach materials, and program documentation related to Community Schools initiatives.
Analyze participation and outcome data to help evaluate the effectiveness of programs, services, and partnerships.
Observe and support student support systems, including attendance improvement efforts, wellness initiatives, restorative practices, and expanded learning opportunities.
Facilitate communication between school personnel, families, and community organizations to strengthen access to services and supports.
Participate in professional development, staff collaboration meetings, and reflective supervision sessions focused on leadership, equity, and community engagement practices.
Assist with project planning, coordination of events, scheduling, and organizational tasks associated with school-community partnerships and student support programs.
Complete professional assignments and presentations demonstrating the ability to apply leadership, communication, organizational, and analytical skills in a school-community setting.

Training:

Students participating in this placement will receive structured training and ongoing support designed to promote professional growth and achievement of learning outcomes. Training will include:

Initial orientation to the organization, school site, workplace expectations, policies, confidentiality requirements, and the Community Schools framework.
Overview and contextualization of assigned projects, including school systems, community partnerships, student support services, and family engagement practices.
Weekly one-on-one meetings with a designated supervisor or mentor to review progress, provide feedback, discuss challenges, and set professional goals.
Job shadowing opportunities with administrators, counselors, community partners, and student support personnel to better understand cross-functional collaboration within a school setting.
Training in professional communication, data collection, meeting facilitation, and community engagement strategies.
Exposure to program planning, partnership development, and coordination of student and family support services.
Access to relevant training materials, policies, procedures, work samples, and educational resources to support assigned responsibilities.
Participation in staff meetings, workshops, and collaborative planning sessions to build leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ongoing coaching and reflective discussions to connect practical experiences with academic and career goals.
